Girls Outdoors meet on Tuesday evenings. Girls Outdoors is an outdoor activity project for female adults and young members aged 8 years and over. No experience is necessary and it is a great opportunity for mothers and daughters or a group of female friends to have fun and learn new skills.
The activities vary week to week and we try to offer a program which enables you to take part in a variety of activities.

Excellent centre, 9 yr daughter had a great week in the Easter holidays. Definitely recommend.
Great weekend 1 star paddle course. Brilliant!
Enjoyed a fantastic 2 day 1 star paddle course this weekend. Thank you Alan for being a great teacher. Amazing place. We all had a great time and learnt a lot.
A huge thank you from the SPACE charity for an amazing paddlesports level 1 session today. Andrew and Terry were fantastic with the group and the feedback from the parent’s & teens has been amazing. We look forward to running more events at HYMB very soon!!
I love “Go Outdoors”. It has allowed me to try lots of new activities in a way that is affordable and the instructors are always friendly and welcoming. It has enabled me to meet new people with similar interests and encouraged me to push my boundaries. It also gets me out of the house and into the fresh air which is so much better than watching TV in the evening!
Started openwater swimming there on a Wednesday evening. Fantastic lake to swim in with amazing coaching by BeEndurance coaching.
Both my sons have been on several courses and had a fantastic time and earned some qualifications whilst having fun!
The GO club has taken me out of my comfort zone and even when I thought I couldn’t do something they helped me believe I could do it. Its a great fun club with the nicest people and incredible instructors. 🙂
On Wednesday 7 August nine Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children aged 16 to 19 visited Herts Young Mariners Base in Cheshunt for a day of water sport activities. The morning consisted of open boat canoeing followed by a kayaking session which included kayak polo. After lunch the group learned the basics of SUPing (stand up paddle-boarding).Within a few minutes of being on the water the laughter and fun were obvious. The group of young people, originally from Afghanistan, Eritrea and Sudan…
I once said to my friend: ‘I didn’t make it to the top on Climbing today, I let go off the wall 🙁‘. He asked me: ‘Did everyone laugh at you?’. I realised that no one in Girls Outdoors would ever do this! All I heard was: ‘Good try!’ and ‘You will get there next time.’. And I did! 🙂. This is why I love GO ♥ positivity never leaves the group 😀
An absolutely amazing place for kids. Best way to take first steps in canoeing, kayaking, archery for your kids. Saturday sessions, holiday club. For kids over 8 years old. Activities for adults as well, I haven’t tried that though.
