I attended the open water swimming for the first time today. I contacted Dermott via Facebook before booking. He was incredibly friendly and helpful. Once I had armed myself with a hat, goggles & wetsuit, I went along for my first session. There was plenty of free parking and everything was so well organised. Clear instructions and plenty of Marshalls/lifeguards dotted around. The water was lovely and there were some areas around the edges where you could stand up if you needed a little rest. I was worried the toilets would not be open due to the corona crises, but was pleased to find they were- with cleaning materials supplied and instructions to clean them before and after use. I was pleased that there was a food wagon for a much needed coffee and snack afterwards. Thanks very much. Will definitely be returning.

Both my sons have been on several courses and had a fantastic time and earned some qualifications whilst having fun!
Love this place great for the kids and grown-ups alike
On Wednesday 7 August nine Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children aged 16 to 19 visited Herts Young Mariners Base in Cheshunt for a day of water sport activities. The morning consisted of open boat canoeing followed by a kayaking session which included kayak polo. After lunch the group learned the basics of SUPing (stand up paddle-boarding). Many thanks to Alan for a really enjoyable and packed weekend introduction to paddling. Really great value for money. Will definitely be back!!
The GO club has taken me out of my comfort zone and even when I thought I couldn’t do something they helped me believe I could do it. Its a great fun club with the nicest people and incredible instructors. 🙂
I love “Go Outdoors”. It has allowed me to try lots of new activities in a way that is affordable and the instructors are always friendly and welcoming. It has enabled me to meet new people with similar interests and encouraged me to push my boundaries. It also gets me out of the house and into the fresh air which is so much better than watching TV in the evening!
I once said to my friend: ‘I didn’t make it to the top on Climbing today, I let go off the wall 🙁‘. He asked me: ‘Did everyone laugh at you?’. I realised that no one in Girls Outdoors would ever do this! All I heard was: ‘Good try!’ and ‘You will get there next time.’. And I did! 🙂. This is why I love GO ♥ positivity never leaves the group 😀
An absolutely amazing place for kids. Best way to take first steps in canoeing, kayaking, archery for your kids. Saturday sessions, holiday club. For kids over 8 years old. Activities for adults as well, I haven’t tried that though.
